Hi there! My name is Amber, I’m 23 years old and I live in the north of Italy. My mom is from Los Angeles, Usa, and my dad is from Newcastle, England. Because of my international background, I get to travel a lot. I love to cook, to take pictures, to experience new cultures (through my traveling), I am passionate about animals and their rights and environmental and social issues regarding today’s global food chain.
This blog is more of a journal, it’s a way for me to record my recipes and ideas about healthy food, document my travels which are always an inspiration to find new ideas about cooking and share articles or researches that might interest others.

A lot of my posts will come from our house in the country outside of Milan: we have many friends here from all over the world who have second homes here too. Most of our friends work in creative fields (architects, product designers, photographers and artists) so its always great to meet up and talk about food, cook together, shop for local grown food and much other!

The most important thing of my cooking is to use fresh and local grown ingredients and to use animal products as less as possible (you will notice that all of my recipes are vegetarian or vegan). I became vegetarian when I was 15 and gradually ate fewer and fewer dairy products as well. It all started because of ethics, but now it affects my point of view on our health and in particular to our environment.

In the fall of 2016 I started studying at the SLOW FOOD university in Bra, Italy (Piedmont region). Slow food is an international movement founded in 1986 by Carlo Petrini in Italy. Today 132 countries have joined it. “Slow food is good, clean and fair food”. Food we eat should taste good, it should be produced in a clean way that doesn’t harm the environment, animal welfare or our health, and food producers should receive fair compensation for their work.

I hope you enjoy my blog, it’s my Italian based world but seen through bigger eyes,
Amber xx
