Hi there! Thank you for visiting my blog!

My name is Amber, I’m 26 years old, I’m half American half English but born and raised in Milan! I grew up in a very creative environment (design & art primarily) and was able to travel a lot throughout my life and studies.
I love food and cooking, and because I’m very sensitive about animal rights, environmental issues and health topics, I became vegetarian when I was 15 and gradually increased my diet to a full plant based one.

I’ve studied at the Slow Food University in Pollezo, Italy, making me a “Gastronome” πŸ™‚ I have a deep knowledge of the current global food chain and its political, social, environmental and other implications. Choosing what to eat is indeed a political act!
I’ve gained more knolwdge on food and cooking by studying at a vegan culinary academy (Matthew Kenney) and worked in farms, such as Chino Farms in San Diego, and restaurants like Alice Water’s Chez Panisse in Berkeley. I currently work at The Ecology Center in Southern California as the culinary manager there!

I cook using fresh, local and seasonal ingredients and I get inspiration from the beautiful produce I find. I always strive to buy the best quality sourced foods coming from small producers who understand and respect nature’s cycles, using no added chemicals. Farmers markets are my heaven on earth!

This blog is more of a journal, here you’ll find plant based recipes, posts on health and environmental topics and much more! I’m very passionate about sharing information about the livestock industry and factory farming. You can find my my book “The Meat we Eat” here to download.
